Blending and Coating Refractory Products in the Rollo-Mixer®
Monolithic refractory blends are a challenge to most mechanical mixers because of the wide range of the particles’ size and density in the formulas. Uniformly mixing powders with stainless steel nails, structural fibers, and course tabular alumina is critical to the performance and durability of these castable products. Because there are no augers, ribbons or paddles in the Rollo-Mixer ® Batch Mixer design, these abrasive ingredients are gently and uniformly distributed in the Rollo-Mixer ® Rotary Drum Blender without unnecessary wear to the vessel. Treating or coating Magnesium Oxide with expensive liquid additives is easily accomplished in the Rollo-Mixer ® Batch Mixer without charging the particles with mechanically induced static.

Refractory Product Samples made with Rollo-Mixers®
Heavy and abrasive refractory materials are blended in the Rollo-Mixer for an even distribution of materials with radically different particle sizes and densities. The refractory industry requires uniform blending for molded products to set right and come out properly. In these samples, you will see examples of blending refractory powders with rocks, ceramics, alumina, nails, glass and more.
